Lazy Sunday Update

Recently I haven't had a Saturday or a Sunday off. Maybe I am a little spoiled for thinking that I should have at least, one Saturday or Sunday off a month.

I don't think so though. There is certainly enough employees to rotate us around and have a weekend day off.

Recently I have been reading more lately. I finished another book, my beach book "Z" which was a historical fiction account of Zelda Fitzgerald's life. It was incredibly interesting and by the end of the book I didn't want to put it down.

I was aware of many of the events that were tracked in the book because I am a huge Hemingway fan and have read quite a lot about Fitzgerald's life. Both authors reference events in their life and use their circle of friends as muses for their characters.

When all was said and done, Zelda had a sad ending to her life. She died in a fire in a mental institution, which she had gone in and out of for the last few years of her life.

After finishing Z, I definitely want to read Zelda's book, "The Last Waltz." It is supposed to be fairly  autobiographical as well. I am looking forward to it, although it didn't get amazing reception when it was first published many years ago.

I also have quite a few creepy books I am interested in reading as well. In my mind, the Holidays are right around the corner and I am super excited! I was speaking to Tim about doing something for Halloween and so we might do the Halloween Horror Nights thing because he has never been before. He is pretty dead set on being Krampus and he is tall so it would be pretty creepy if he really did try that.

This past week at work I was given some pretty good news. It looks like my boss is pretty happy with me, so I'll be given a set schedule to rotate with another co-worker in the contact lens department. I am finally getting pretty comfortable with all of my duties in there and have also learned more about how the rest of the office works. I will have every other weekend off and I am pretty excited about that because I did not expect that, especially being so new.

Yesterday we were slammed, Saturdays are always very busy. Last week my schedule was only Wednesday through Saturday. They let me go home early yesterday, which surprised me but I was already at my 40 hours so I figured why not. I was even more surprised to see I had Sunday off but I am not complaining at all.

Tim had already texted me and told me he was going out with his boss for the evening. Since I got out early I joined him. We went over to the boat and met up with his boss and his wife as well as Jeff. I always have a good time when we all meet up. We sat on the boat and had a few drinks then walked over to Second Street Bistro to have dinner.

P.S.- I kept with the idea of "lazy Sunday and actually never posted this." So, this is a week old now...

  1. I wish that I was interested in reading as you. I literally have to force myself to read even if the book is really good! That does sound lie she had a sad life. I would hate to die in a fire. I am not sure what it worst drowning or dying in a fire. I feel like both have their pros and cons.

You should have a Saturday or Sunday off. To me that is not unreasonable and I am glad that they are working with you. They should though because you are experienced and work really hard. I think that your boss likes you a lot though. She only had good things to say about you and she does not seem like someone who has a probably bad mouthing lol.

That sounds nice! Being on a boat reminds me of mommie dearest. I wish that I would have not been a vampire and went out on the boat with her more. I feel like Bistro food is never enough and I would have to devour the whole establishment to be filled!

    Love you!
