Fly me to the Moon....let me play among the stars.....♪

So, where to start? The moon and I are no longer in cahoots this week so my moods are certainly more normal than the last time I wrote up a blog.

Sun n' Fun was a blast with Tim. I had such an amazing time and it made me feel a little closer to him. If I could, I'd travel with him to the all the air shows. He opens a whole new world for me that I would have never explored.

I loved seeing him in his element, he really seemed at home at the air show. His mood was excellent and even though he was working, he was in a very good mood. I loved it. I love seeing people being passionate about what they love. He always impresses me.

The past weekend we had some serious talks about our future together. I think, despite my own baggage making me feel insecure sometimes, things feel right with him. He's not hard to live with and he's independent. I don't think I've ever been the type of girl to be overly clingy or needy (I hate that word "needy" because it is almost always used to label a woman to make her feel crazy about having feelings)

So, anyhow, he invited me to his cousin's wedding at the end of May and I am pretty stoked for that. I'll get to meet his parents and quite a bit of his family. He described the particular couple as "party people" so I'm pretty excited because his sense of partying is really, living it up a little. It also gives me a little more of a push to lose some weight (I've gained over 30 ilbs and I am the heaviest I've ever been!)

On other fronts, work has been very very busy lately. It is a little exhausting but I wouldn't ask for it differently. We were pretty slow there for awhile and it was driving me crazy. I've been trying to be more sales minded lately, though I've never been the one for pushing things on people they don't need. I never upsell  an option on lenses that I don't feel is necessary (i.e. Hi-index lenses on a -1.25 OU script......)

I had a pretty great sale with a patient that came in and right off the bat said, "I don't like doing this, expensive decisions like this make me anxious." Right away I was thinking, "Ohhh god" but instinct kind of takes over with these kind of people and you get a sense of the style of the person after a few minutes.

It's exciting to get someone fitted in a nice new pair of glasses that they look good in when they figured that they wouldn't look good in anything. I also get pretty excited, I noticed, when someone is unhappy with their vision in their previous glasses (particularly their progressive) and they go into a full size progressive and are very happy.  I always get a little excited when I measure the seg and it's going from an 18 to a 21+ because people may think they're happy with a compact progressive but once they see what a deeper lens is like, it is world's better!

I've learned so much since I have started working at this office, it's almost funny to think of the things that freaked me out in the beginning but are common knowledge now. My mom was very right when she said that optical was a good "fall-back" job and it honestly gives me a little security blanket when I think about moving down to Ft. Pierce or even moving out of state. I will always have experience in this particular skill and it's not that difficult.

So, I'm waiting for my fitbit to charge and finishing off my cup of coffee. I have a lot of jobs to put in at work when I get there, so I'm going to try to leave a little early to get a head start.

This weekend is going to be a bunch of fun. Our longtime friend, Elaina, is coming home from South Carolina to have a pool party get together. I also have off Monday, so it is going to be a nice loooong weekend for me. I hope I can get some sun in! (Probably while Tim is at work)

Until Next time,

  1. Mommie would be proud of you! You have learned soooo much. I even look at the pictures that you post and I am like what the hell is that. Tim is really amazing and has a lot going for him. He works sooo hard. Don't forget your bathing suit on Saturday we are just going to sit by the pool and get smashed. I hope the wedding is fun!
